San Francisco 1999-2003
FIA was an affiliate of the Fremont Group, the capital management arm for the Bechtel Group and the Bechtel Family in San Francisco. Bechtel is one of the largest construction and engineering firms in the world and the family office is one of the largest in the US. FIA’s underlying institutional managers included PIMCO (fixed income), Capital Group (international equity) and several other boutique specialists in the Micro cap, REIT and Emerging Markets categories. FIA was acquired by the Affiliated Managers Group. Jon worked with the industry’s leading independent RIAs and supported the fee-only industry extensively.
RS Investments
San Francisco 2003 – 2006
The former asset management arm of Robertson Stephens, one of the top west coast investment banks during the Silicon Valley boom of the 90’s and 00’s. RS Investments is a leader in US Equity Growth, Technology, Value and Natural Resource strategies, assets currently exceed $20 billion. Jon held a senior leadership role as a trusted representative of the firm’s investment teams . RS is now owned by Victory Capital.
Sterling Johnston Capital Management
San Francisco 2007 - 2010
SJCM was a boutique institutional investment manager dedicated to Micro cap and Small cap investment strategies. Peak assets were $1.5 billion. The firm’s client list represented many of the most the notable institutional investors across the globe. The firm was highly regarded as a pioneer within the Micro cap and Small cap universe and had an esteemed track record. As a partner of the firm, Jon was the global head of client service and business development. SJCM voluntarily closed its business in 2011.
Zazove Associates
Reno/Tahoe 2010 - 2016
Zazove is an institutional investment manager dedicated to convertible bond, credit and convertible arbitrage strategies. Peak assets for the firm were in excess of $6 billion. Zazove’s clients are a mix of sophisticated insurance companies and some of the largest institutional investors from the public pension and corporate plan market. Jon’s role was to lead the firm for all activities regarding client service and business development across the US and Europe.

In addition to providing investment management solutions for clients, Jon’s role was to lead the US team and establish a market presence in North America. He also served as a board member for Sequent’s North American business. Sequent operates in Reno, London, Guernsey, Zurich, Geneva and Singapore.
